4MRMarket Report: Get Your Pre-Holiday Fix of Local!

The Four Mile Run Farmers & Artisans Market (4MRMarket) will be open every Sunday from 9am until 1pm from April 19th through November in Four Mile Run Park at 4109 Mt Vernon Avenue, Alexandria. (click here for directions)

4MRMarket is hopping by 9am with the bagel frenzy! Drop by early this Sunday!

This Sunday starts the last normal week for awhile, so be sure to get your fix of local produce, cheese, eggs, breads, pastries, coffee, handmade goods, and much more! After all, many of you will welcome family and friends in town next weekend or take off for visits of your own. Enjoy your last week before the holiday season begins with us at 4MRMarket!

Note that Second Rising WILL be at the market this Sunday. They originally planned to be absent but plans have changed to our benefit! Pick up a loaf of their great bread and some delicious coconut chocolate chip cookies and help Rebecca to give victims of the sex trade their second chance.

Don't forget to check out the Alexandria Mobile Transit Store to refill your SmarTrip and learn more about walking, biking, CaBi, and transit in Alexandria!

Taking Nov 22 Bagel Orders This Sunday

Bagel Uprising will be at 4MRMarket this Sunday. To get your bagel fix next Sunday (Nov. 22), come by the market this Sunday and place an order. While Chad won't be able to join us at the market with his breakfast sensation on the 22nd, he will still bake that morning and you can pick up pre-ordered bagels at the market. Note that he won't have bagels for sale on Nov 22nd, only pre-ordered pick-up.

The 4MR Winter Market Is Coming!

While we're still working out details, 4MRMarket will become the 4MR Winter Market from Nov 29 until sometime in April!  The market will be indoors at the normal market site and many of your favorite vendors will be staying on all winter (including greenhouse produce!!!).

Stay tuned for more details.

This Week on 4MR Stage...

Check out 4MR Stage veteran Matt Tarka this Sunday from 10am-noon!

Matt Tarka is a singer/songwriter whose introspective lyrics and sharp rhythms are designed for your back porch or a ride into town. Tarka’s songs can jolt you like a conversation with an old friend, picking up right where you left off on the trail. He has been compared to rockers turned folk artists including Kevin Seconds, Vic Ruggiero, Jesse Malin, TV Smith and Gene Clark.

He can be found performing his brand of folk rock at such venues as Axum Lounge (DC), The Velvet Lounge (DC), The Ottobar (Baltimore), MilkBoy Coffee/The Fire/Dawson Street Pub (Philadelphia), among many others.

Tarka recorded his debut EP in July 2011 titled Motorcycle Breakfast, produced by Dave Mallen. This collection of songs delivers a poignant message in a somewhat playful and endearing way. DC Rock Live’s David Hintz writes: “The best of his style are the vocal lines he writes that are simple enough on the face of things, but have a few hooky moments that bring his songs to life.”

Our musicians volunteer their time on Sunday mornings to make yours even brighter! They graciously accept tips and friendly applause, so please help support music at 4MRMarket!
