We Will Miss You, Karl

4MRMarket lost a dear friend and member of its family last week. Karl Simpson passed away March 10th from pancreatic cancer. Karl was a really good guy and the kind of person who'd go out of his way to do anything for you. And he often did.

Not that long ago.

It's impossible to believe that the strong vibrant man of a few weeks ago isn't with us anymore. 4MRMarket goers will know Karl from running the Tom's Amish Cheese Shop stall, but he had also taken on a lot more with the Winter Market and is primarily responsible for keeping it going this year. He would be the first to arrive each Sunday (two hours early) and...after helping everyone else pack up...the last to leave. Karl particularly loved to entertain the kids that came to market and took pleasure in bringing gifts or treats for them. His heroic efforts to retrieve lost toys won't be forgotten.

We didn't know it before, but have now learned that Karl continued to do all this while very ill. He never complained and never gave up. There's no greater expression of love than to give of one's time and we are humbled that Karl chose to devote the short time he had left by spending it helping us.

We will always miss you, Karl.

Karl's death came unexpectedly to his family and we are only just getting details about his memorial services. We'll update this page when we learn more.
